COVID-19: April 6, 2020
Local impact:
At today’s briefing, the Governor said “the numbers we are paying attention to are not so much testing numbers, but hospital cases and deaths.”
While all numbers still high we’re starting to see real signs these mitigation measures are starting to yield real results.
So I looked for data on hospital admissions and found a chart:

This looks much better than the increasing case count.
Put another way, new hospitalizations by day for the last ten days: 154, 200, 31, 197, 143, 141, 68, 19, 77, 6That is a definite downward trend in hospitalizations. Good to see.
Gov says the reported deaths each day are not always in the 24-hour time frame. He says, in some cases, people die days prior to receiving test results.
Maybe thanks to that kind of unevenly reported data, I am not seeing deaths plateau in the same way.
New deaths by day for the last ten days: 18, 14, 34, 54, 34, 37, 60, 39, 68, 35
